Cindy
Ghana

Cindy lost her father at a young age. Left behind were Cindy’s mother, Cindy, a brother, and a sister. The struggle to support the family was intense, and Cindy's mother mother ended up selling charcoal to make money. Cindy couldn’t always attend school. She was either busy helping her mother make the charcoal or run the household.

Cindy was lucky enough to find CAMFED, an organization that helps sponsor girls’ education throughout Africa. She finished school and went on to attend a university, training to become a doctor. Not only that, she is an entrepreneur.  She started a vegetable agri-business, producing greenhouse vegetables in her community. This not only allows her to earn money, but helps her community by giving them access to fresh produce.

Cindy is still with CAMFED and is now mentoring younger girls who are in similar circumstances as she once was. She is passionate about giving back as a thank you for all of the help she received.

Cindy's main interest lies in entrepreneurship. She knows firsthand that if a girl can support herself, she can bring so much to her family, her communities, and future generations.
