The Taliban promised Afghan people that everyone would be able to return to school on March 23rd. Late March 22nd they decided that girls past grade 6 would not be able to return to school. Of course, since they changed their minds so late, many girls in many schools went to school for the first day of the year, and when they got there, they were told to go back home. The Taliban took over Afghanistan in 2021, promising they wouldn’t take away girls' education. This is concerning because international organizations are threatening to stop alliances with Afghanistan if they don’t let girls continue their education.
